Journal name change

For obvious reasons, I've decided to change the title of this LJ journal from "Huddy or Love in the 21st Century" to "The Life & Times of the Lovely Lisa E, Be She Cuddy or Not." The queen is dead, long live the queen! I'm looking forward to watching Lisa E knock another one out of the ballpark at "The Good Wife" where she will be appreciated as she deserves. "House M.D." died a long and painful death in the course of the late season 7. It once was a great show. No more.

Really ridiculous reality show: The Cuddy project

From televisionwithoutpity.com this parody:

REALLY RIDICULOUS REALITY SHOWS, TWOP 10
TWOP 10: OTHER SCRIPTED SHOWS THAT SHOULD HAVE CASTING PROJECTS
by Angel Cohn June 10, 2011 6:03 AM

The upcoming Oxygen reality series The Glee Project is a singing competition with a scripted payoff: after a series of on-screen auditions, the winner of the show will get a role of some sort on Glee itself. It's not a bad idea, particularly since Gleeks are incredibly dedicated and may tune in to get their first look at a new character, and hear some musical theater performances along the way. In fact, this concept has so much potential, we'd like to see these other shows follow its lead:

 1. The Cuddy Project (House)
Since Lisa Edelstein is gone, someone's going to have to run that mess of a hospital, and it sure can't be any of the incompetent people who already work there. So find a slew of actors and actresses and let viewers vote on who can reign in House (when he returns from parts unknown). Challenges could include: being placed behind plate-glass windows as moving vehicles hurtle towards them, being locked in an office with a masked gunman and being forced to make out with a Hugh Laurie lookalike.

The House Season 7 DVD press release came out: http://prn.to/l7ClkE. I reproduce the relevant sections:

OVERVIEW: For the first time in seven seasons, Dr. Gregory House tries to access his softer side. Hugh Laurie returns to his Golden Globe®-winning and Primetime Emmy® Award-nominated role as television's favorite irreverent M.D., who is now struggling to balance his new – and long awaited – relationship with Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). The doctors grapple at mixing work and play as they attempt to maintain a real relationship, despite fears that the affair will affect their ability to diagnose patients.

BONUS FEATURETTES
  • HUDDY DISSECTED: Hugh Laurie, Lisa Edelstein, executive producer Katie Jacobs and writer and executive producer David Shore discuss the longtime love-hate-relationship between House and Cuddy, giving viewers the ultimate behind-the-scenes look at the new couple.
  • ANATOMY OF AN EPISODE: "BOMBSHELLS:" This documentary-style featurette peels back the layers to reveal the astounding collaboration between the cast and crew that allowed "House" to pull off episode 15 ("Bombshells") of Season 7. This episode is complete with period flashback sequences and a musical number.
FEATURE COMMENTARIES
  • "BOMBSHELLS:" Featuring director Greg Yaitanes and Lisa Edelstein.
  • "MOVING ON:" Featuring executive producer David Shore and director Greg Yaitanes.

Musings on Lisa E & Hollywood

Hollywood is a hard, cynical place. It seems to me that @LisaEdelstein is handling her current predicament on House M.D. probably the best way she can: now that she's thrown down the gauntlet, she's at peace. Either they'll make her a better deal or not, better not to lie awake about it. She didn't take this step lightly because she truly likes the show and the opportunities it has brought her. But with the declining quality of writing, the increasing misogyny, etc. the insulting new contract probably was too much to accept. I applaud her for striving to maintain a balance between the reality of working in a cut-throat industry and her desire to stay grounded and happy. She seems like the type of person whom everyone likes and who genuinely likes people, finds the best in people, but also is wise enough not to take it too personal when some of the same people will inevitably disappoint her. In short: I admire her.

List of shout-outs to Lisa E

I am keeping track of the public shout-outs from House-M.D.-related people to Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy) on te occasion of her leaving/being dumped from House M.D. as announced on May 17, 2011. Update: A large group of fans organized an ad to be put in the June 13 "Variety Weekly," Hollywood's trade magazine, honoring Lisa Edelstein. I posted the online version of said ad earlier and the full paper version as well as the list of contributors can be seen at IWFLE. I'll add shout-outs to that initiative to the list: they are the dates between square brackets. Update no. 2: On June 23, it was announced that Lisa E would be joining "The Good Wife" for a multi-episode arc come October. I'll add the congratulations and the like for that to the list, this time between curly brackets. This list will be updated as needed (last updated on 11-20). Let me know if I overlooked anyone. By the way, don't believe the recent TPTB campaign that Lisa E wasn't pushed out but left of her own accord and that was all there was to it. It is at least disingenuous if not a lie. I've said it before: I am inspired by her for not rolling over and let NBCU, Fox and other TPTB treat her poorly. You left with your head held high: bravo!

Happy birthday, Lisa E!

I wish you all the best.

House TPTB don't know what they'll be missing.
PPTH will be a stale, dreadful place.
House will be lost and pathetic.
Fans will miss your grace, wit and beauty.

I can't wait to see you shine on the screen again.
